译者: 艾比 the silverwood house was born from a man’s walk down the beach of mindelo, portugal. upon seeing his soon-to-be architect ernesto pereira (3r-arq) working on his own office he quickly commissioned him to renovate his existing traditional house. with a modest budget of 100,000 EUR, pereira exhaustively set out to learn all about his clients in order to design and build their home. the result is a completely transformed house characterized by stark white walls and meticulously crafted diagonal wooden cladding. the massing suggests a subtractive strategy was implemented carving out decks and overhangs to create plenty of outdoor spaces. expansive decks wrap around the entire building, expanding at certain areas to accommodate swimming pools or larger gathering spaces. the landscaping around the house recalls many of the same materials and designs found beach-side, in order to bring the clients closer to the sea. the interior reflects the intricacies of the clients’ tastes with custom made fixtures crafted by the architect himself. every bedroom contains a private second-story balcony that extends views out towards the ocean and catches the breezes off the sea.
