设计概念
丹麦海宁当代艺术博物馆第一次将三所截然不同的文化机构联系到一起：海宁艺术中心，美国中西部艺术团和Socle du Monde 协会。新博物馆旨在打造结合视觉艺术和音乐的创新论坛，该项目包括永久和临时展厅，150个座位的演艺厅，音乐排练室，餐厅，图书馆，多媒体图书馆和行政办公室。
设计的主题为“建造场地”，力图通过这个单层的艺术中心使建筑与场地景观浑然一体。部分场地的景观形状为屋顶的反向几何曲线。为了改造原先的平地，新的40,000平方英尺景观草邱和水池掩藏了所有的停车场和设备区，同时构成了令人赏心悦目的起伏地面景观空间，将人们注意力转向反射南面光线倒影的池塘。
该博物馆位于海宁附近的Angli衬衫工厂原址。由于工厂老板与“贫穷艺术”流派（Arte Povera）的艺术家如皮耶罗曼佐尼之间的沟通与合作，才使独特的艺术收藏至今幸存于海宁。1960年衣领形状的的工厂平面图为新博物馆的设计带来了灵感：鸟瞰建筑，屋顶的形状仿佛是各式各样衬衫袖子铺在画廊的上面。弯曲的屋顶为画廊空间注入了平和的自然光，而宽松的边缘空间承载了咖啡馆，礼堂，中心大厅和办公室等功能。卡车防水布被插进白色混凝土模板为建筑外墙制造出织物纹理的形态。
画廊空间都是由直角构成，并且为了与艺术相衬按精细的美学比例构成。头顶上弯曲的屋顶截面将自然光引领入空间。画廊的围墙作为结构承载要素，强调了画廊作为博物馆的“宝藏箱”的功能。画廊里面的轻质墙体可随意移动，灵活应对多变的展览需求。木炭色的混凝土地板表面被涂上蜡质从而变成青铜色，在视觉上与水平地面合为一体。展览空间可以很容易地闭合，而所有外围空间即使在工作时间之外也会一直保持开放。

The Herning Museum of Contemporary Artunites, for the first time, three distinct cultural institutions: the Herning Centerof the Arts, the MidWest ensemble and theSocle du Monde. The new museum is an innovative forum combining visual art andmusic. It includes permanent and temporary exhibition galleries, a 150-seatauditorium, music rehearsal rooms, a restaurant, a media library, andadministrative offices.
The design fuses landscape and architecturein a one-level building and aims at “building the site”. The surroundinglandscape is partially shaped in the reverse-curve of the geometry of the roof.In transforming the flat field, a new 40,000 sf landscape of grass mounds andpools conceals all the parking and service areas while shaping bermed landscapespaces focused on reflecting pools positioned in the south sun.
The museum is sited near Herning’s originalAngli shirt factory. It was the interaction between the factory owner and ArtePovera artists such as Piero Manzoni that enabled such a special collection ofart to exist in Herning. The shirt collar-shaped plan of the 1960s factorybuilding inspired the shape of the new museum building; viewed from above, theroof geometry resembles a collection shirt sleeves laid over the galleryspaces. The curved roofs bring balanced natural light to the galleries, and theloose edges of the plan offer spaces for the café, auditorium, lobby, andoffices. Truck tarps were inserted intothe white concrete formwork to yield a fabric texture to the building’sexterior walls.
Gallery spaces are orthogonal and finelyproportioned for art, while overhead curved roof sections transport naturallight into the spaces. The galleries’ perimeter walls are load bearingelements, emphasizing these as “treasure boxes” in the museum. Internal gallerywalls of lightweight construction are movable, providing flexibility inanticipation of changing exhibitions. Floors of integral color charcoal concreteunify the ground plane into a continuous patina with a wax finish. Theexhibition spaces can be easily closed, while all peripheral spaces remain openfor after-hours use.
