he outdoor stage designed by chinese studio dl atelier gives the illusion of a full moon sitting over a mountain. located right on the edge of a river in malan village in hebei province of northern china, the rounded platform is for a local children’s orchestra. after being approached by their teacher, deng xiaolan, the architects were asked to come up with a scenic set for them to perform on. the envisioned structure behaves a backdrop that appears as natural as the group of little musicians. the project enables the village to experience the beauty of music, while also enjoying the uplifting atmosphere of the surrounding environment.
