This modest， single family residence designed by Substance is home for a Pella， Iowa family who were looking to “downsize” their domestic lives with a home tailored specifically to their needs and a four acre， bucolic site. The resulting home expresses its own distinct presence on the horizon while simultaneously suggesting a presence greater than itself—the rural Iowa landscape.
