dror has won dawntown's 2013 landmark miami ideas competition.the theme this year looked at how cities have come to be identified by individual structures within them, with a brief that invited creatives develop a new symbol for the coastal city--an architectural feature which stands out while also contributing to the image the miami currently projects. the new york-based studio's winning proposal 'miamilift' draws on the popularity of the metropolis as a holiday getaway, known for its abundant number of beaches, thriving mix of cultures, as well as its port location, making it a prime cruise docking point. dror's design has been conceived as triangular-shaped volume which appears as if it is being peeled away from the ground, lifted above the water's edge. his scheme includes a number of programs including retail, restaurant and café, theater, media library and exhibition space, all of which will offer panoramic views of the city and atlantic ocean.
