The cente of the scheme is a flagship John Lewis store， with a terracotta facade inspired by Leeds’ textile heritage. The Victoria Gate arcade will link Victoria Quarter to the John Lewis store with stores， restaurants， cafes and leisure space. The eastern part of the site will be occupied by a multi-storey car park for up to 800 cars clad in a twisted metal skin. Victoria Gate will regenerate a part of Leeds city centre currently used mostly for surface parking， and deliver up to 1，500 retail and hospitality jobs and 6，000 employment opportunities. ACME have worked to the brief of creating a 21st century arcade which adds to Leeds’ rich arcade and textile history. Taking inspiration from the prevailing buildings in the city context， the designs re-interprets a mixture of traditional Leeds materials like white terracotta and red bricks in a contemporary manner.
