zaha hadid joins the architectural map of the high line with her first
project in new york. the architect was commissioned by related companies, the
city's leading residential developer to envision an 11-storey luxury condominium
along diller scofidio + renfro-designed elevated park, positioned at 520 west
28th street in chelsea, just south of the hudson yards.
zaha hadid's design
creates an interplay between the city and the urban green space, which is
expressed through the exterior's chevron pattern. the merging of outdoors with
the indoors is indicated by the horizontal V-shaped lines which frame and
wraparound the expansive terraces of the units, with extensive amounts of
glazing continue this connection between park and urban city environment. a
total of 37 units will be housed within, each measuring up to 5,500 square feet,
offering gracious amounts of living space. a number of elevator cores will be
integrated throughout for accessibility, allowing residents to move easily
throughout the building, while many of the individual suites will feature a
private entrance and vestibule in order to maintain the necessary privacy.
owners will be welcomed into the condo by a double-height entrance lobby which
will provide views beyond the communal spaces and outdoor garden. amenities will
include an indoor pool and spa, entertainment space, playrooms and a generous
rooftop terrace.
'our design is an integration of volumes that flow into each
other and, following a coherent formal language, create the sensibility of the
building's overall ensemble,' explains zaha hadid. 'with an arrangement that
reinvents the spatial experience, each residence will have its own distinctive
identity, offering multiple perspectives and exciting views of the
neighborhood.' |
