俯瞰长江，中国建筑公司amphibianArc运用有机结构设计了宜昌新区总体规划。博物馆的构造，展览中心的规划，以及其他一些配套设施位于城市南部，以此向中国发明丝绸织布机的嫘祖致敬。独一无二的外观，全部覆盖的是参数化的编织。铝管的直径在这一设计中加强了这样的外观效果。它还提供了一个实用功能，在文化中心内部，游人们可以欣赏到发光的卷轴型画廊，中间还适当的穿插着观众席和展览空间。
一个池塘河曲系统贯穿整个地址，在这里它作为雨水收集系统的一部分，旨在充分利用宜昌湿润的亚热带气候。整个宜昌地区的总体规划主要想表现的就是地方山水特色。（中国的山和水）在北部，最高峰是公共服务中心，这个结构包括四个高层建筑和四个低楼建筑，被中央的会议大厅均匀的隔开。塔楼上建起行政办公室，一个中心庭院围绕这里而建，这样的设计就方便于宜昌人民的访问。也因此打破了一个刻板消极政府的形象。
Overlooking the yangtze river, chinese architects amphibianArc design yichang new district masterplan with organic forms. the tectonic of the museum, planning exhibition center and auxiliary programs located to the south references the silk worm cocoon, a tribute to chinese empress leizu -- inventor of the silk loom. the unrepeated pattern of the exterior covering is parametrically generated as to appear woven by nature. the diameter of the aluminum pipe used reinforces this effect. it is also serves a practical function. offset 1.5 m from the concrete shell of the building, the spun envelope acts as a shading and cooling device for interior spaces. inside the cultural centers sweeping forms circulate the visitor through open luminous galleries, interspersed with appropriately lighted auditoria and exhibition spaces.
a system of ponds meander through the unbuilt site as part of the rainwater harvesting system designed to take advantage of yichang's humid subtropical climate.
the entire yichang new district masterplan is conceived of as a representation of the local shan shui (chinese for mountains and water). to the north, the highest peak is the public service center. this structure includes four highrise and four lowrise buildings, evenly divided by the conference hall at the center. administrative spaces rise above in the tower, while executive offices are more down-to earth and organized around a central courtyard where they can be easily accessed by the people of yichang, consequently breaking the negative stereotype of an aloof government.
